After Dobbs, Ganahl Doubles Down on Extreme Abortion Position
On the heels of the Dobbs Supreme Court decision overturning the right to an abortion in America, Heidi Ganahl has doubled-down on her real views with extreme rhetoric–a baffling turnaround from what she said to mainstream media outlets just days before.
She stated on conservative radio that the Reproductive Health Equity Act protecting abortion rights in Colorado was “disgusting” and made bogus claims that it allows abortion “after birth.”
Ganahl added comments disparaging women who receive abortions late in pregnancy, often a life-saving measure.
She also said she wants to “represent women” with her extreme anti-abortion views. Colorado voters have consistently rejected previous anti-abortion measures.
In last week’s interviews with CBS and CPR, Ganahl hid her positions from mainstream media, following the exact strategy Glenn Youngkin used to win the Virginia GOP primary and the governor’s race. Youngkin has just proposed an abortion ban.
“Ganahl is clearly trying to signal her real views to the base ahead of the primary–she has deliberately hid her real positions throughout the campaign, and we will hold her accountable to her hard-right positions.” - Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles
