Ganahl Remains Silent as Eastman is Subpoenaed in Georgia
Heidi Ganahl is on the 306th day of her campaign where she has not unequivocally denounced Trump coup attorney John Eastman. The former CU professor has now been subpoenaed for questioning by a Georgia grand jury for his involvement in attempting to overturn that state’s 2020 electoral results.
Ganahl has not only refused to denounce Eastman, she has lied to the public about contacting him prior to the November 2020 election. Ganahl claimed to the Colorado Sun and CBS4 that she “never talked” to Eastman, when in reality they exchanged several emails making plans to meet.
Ganahl has admitted to defending Eastman to other CU regents, knowing his involvement in the January 6th coup attempt. She has also called Eastman “fantastic” and “stellar,” and only said the coup attempt on the United States government was “inappropriate.”
She has surrounded herself with election-denying Trump figures like Brad Parscale and Boris Epshteyn, and gives regular interviews to former Trump advisor Steve Bannon. All three, as well as Eastman, have been subpoenaed by the congressional January 6th Select Committee.
“Heidi Ganahl is clearly trying to pull one over on the public. She says the coup was a ‘bad day’, but surrounds herself with figures at the center of the conspiracy. Coloradans cannot trust her to tell the truth about the Big Lie, and they certainly won’t trust her to be governor.” - Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles
