GOP Candidates Huddle in Teller County Tomorrow for AR-15 Raffle
Tomorrow, GOP candidates including Ron Hanks, Joe O’Dea, Tina Peters, and Pam Anderson will go to Teller County Republicans’ Big Tent event where they will hold a raffle for an AR-15. Despite the rise of senseless mass shootings, Colorado Republicans continue to prove that they will put the gun lobby ahead of innocent lives.
Colorado Times Recorder asked Teller County Republicans if “there had been any discussion of canceling the rifle giveaway” because of the rise of mass shootings and “Teller GOP chair Ross Parnow stated that the rifle ‘wasn’t used in the Texas shooting.’”
GOP Senate candidates Ron Hanks and Joe O’Dea are both too far right on guns and they offer no promise of supporting gun safety legislation to help prevent future tragedies caused by gun violence.
Candidates on the Second Amendment:
Ron Hanks
Claimed that he defended the Second Amendment and blew up a copy machine with a semi-automatic rifle in a campaign launch video.
Sponsored bills to repeal a ban on magazines and allow anyone to carry a firearm without a permit.
Joe O’Dea
Said that “we don’t need more [gun control] laws.”
Said he’s an “advocate” for the Second Amendment and used crime as a reason why people should practice their Second Amendment right.
Backed by the NRA’s Colorado affiliate group.
