Heidi Ganahl Hires Trump Advisor who Attempted to Overturn State Elections
Refuses to Denounce John Eastman, Day 301
Today, the Colorado Times Recorder reported new information that Boris Epshteyn has been advising the Ganahl campaign leading up to and after the GOP primary. Epshteyn was a Trump advisor who was closely involved in the attempt to overturn state election results to keep Trump in power after the 2020 election.
This new development adds to the suspicions raised by Ganahl’s constant refusals to unequivocally denounce CU professor-turned-Trump operative John Eastman, a law professor also at the center of the attempt to steal the 2020 election and resultant events on Jan. 6, 2021. Ganahl recently admitted to defending Eastman’s position at CU after he played a key role in trying to overturn the election.
Ganahl now has had two advisors – Brad Parscale and Epshteyn – on her payroll who have been subpoenaed to appear before the January 6th committee, in addition to her defense of Eastman. She also made several recent appearances on Steve Bannon’s show, who has also been subpoenaed by the committee.
Ganahl’s actions counter her feeble protests that there wasn’t “enough” fraud to flip Colorado’s election. Her statements do not stand up to the fact that she continues to surround herself with Big Lie figures.
This week on Fox 31, Hiding Heidi was given another chance to say something moderates might sympathize with: “John Eastman is a villain,” a “traitor,” or that “CU should disown John Eastman.”
Instead Ganahl said that Eastman’s involvement in Trump’s coup was “inappropriate.”
At least this time Ganahl didn’t call his record of birtherism and election denialism “stellar.”
Her former colleague and CU Regent Emerita Linda Shoemaker showed her how it’s done, defiantly labeling Eastman “an enemy of American democracy” in the Denver Post and questioning exactly why it’s so hard for Ganahl to do the same.
“Not only has Heidi refused to disavow a Trump operative at CU who tried to overthrow an election, she is surrounding herself with more of them. She can court the MAGA Republican base all she wants, but it won’t do her any good with the majority of Colorado voters this fall.” -Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles
