Zero Vision: Where’s the Tax Plan, Heidi?

Will Cities and Counties be Forced to Pay More? Or Will Schools and Police be Defunded?

In a rare interview with 9NEWS, Republican nominee for governor Heidi Ganahl failed again to explain how her senseless proposal to go to zero percent income tax would work without raising other taxes on Coloradans or severely cutting funding for schools, hospitals, and law enforcement.

Colorado’s income tax funds our state to the tune of about $10 billion. Without a concrete plan, we have to wonder: would Ganahl leave Colorado’s kids and communities high and dry?

Ganahl’s scheme would force cities and counties to fund critical services without any assistance from the state. That means communities would likely have to levy higher property and sales taxes to make up the difference.

“Coloradans know better than to believe in fairy tales, and that’s all Heidi Ganahl is selling. Will going to zero percent income tax defund our schools, our police departments, or our hospitals? The shred of a plan she has offered is patently ridiculous and wildly irresponsible.” - Colorado Democratic Party spokesperson Kailee Stiles
