ICYMI: Ganahl Fumbles Lieutenant Governor Announcement

Heidi Ganahl fumbled yet another campaign announcement last week. After teasing her Lieutenant Governor pick–a “strong, Hispanic male from rural Colorado”– for days on right-wing media before and after the primary, she missed her own announcement. Then things got strange.

As 9NEWS reported Friday, Heidi pledged to announce her final candidate on Thursday, July 7. No announcement from the campaign came. Heidi’s campaign then said they were postponing because of the (previously scheduled) holiday week.

Ganahl was then scooped on her own announcement by Colorado Politics, who confirmed with sources that Las Animas County Commissioner Felix Lopez was the LG pick. Strangely, the outlet then retracted the story and the Ganahl campaign denied that Lopez was their chosen candidate.

Then the contradictions started. Lopez told 9NEWS he wasn’t sure how the information leaked “prematurely.” Ganahl’s campaign again denied that he was their pick for Lieutenant Governor.

As Kyle Clark stated, “If [Lopez] is the pick, lying to the public is a tough way to start a campaign.”

Mark another series of blunders for the Ganahl’s campaign.
